Why Support Wind

The Power of Wind educates, engages and unites a movement of Americans who support wind power and its benefits, creating a stronger, cleaner nation every day.

Wind energy today powers the equivalent of 9.7 million American homes with clean electricity. Wind accounted for 40% of all new energy chosen by electric utilities in 2008 and 2009, and by 2030 can provide 20% of all the electricity in America.

The U.S. wind industry currently employs 85,000 people in good quality, high-paying jobs. It provides much-needed rural economic development and sustains communities, providing the dollars for new schools, libraries, town halls, and health clinics. By 2030, wind energy can support 500,000 American jobs.

Wind power protects American pocketbooks, too. A study in Texas found it holds down natural gas prices by providing an alternative. Another study found investment in renewables in the South alone could save consumers $23 billion by 2030.
